The Hot Strangs are a Nashville based bluegrass band. They perform original bluegrass and acoustic roots music. Initiated by award winning band member Tyson Alteri The Hot Strangs are composed of some of Nashville's finest: Tyson Alteri (Guitar and Vocals), Mike Bub (Bass), Shad Cobb (Fiddle), Chris Henry (Mandolin), and Robert Trapp (Banjo). Tyson Alteri and his previous band 49 Special won the nationally acclaimed RockyGrass Band Contest in 2009 (along with such winners Steep Canyon Rangers, Town Mountain, and Greensky Bluegrass). Mike Bub is a Grammy winner for his work with the Del McCoury Band and five time IBMA Bass Player of the Year Awardee. Shad Cobb is one of Nashville's top fiddlers and has played with The Osborn Brothers, Willie Nelson, Steve Earl and the list goes on... Robert Trapp who has been playing banjo since he was 14 played in a band called "The Next Best Thing" with Rhonda Vincent's daughters Sally and Tensel and has with performed with many notable musicians including Alison Krauss & Dan Tyminski, Ralph Stanley, and the late Porter Wagner to name a few. Chris Henry, "the fastest man in Nashville", has performed with Shawn Camp, Peter Rowan, Bill Emerson, Dale Crider, Verlon Thompson, 1946, Audie Blaylock and Redline, the Lynn Morris Band and many more.
Together they create a new and original sound while harnessing traditional elements American acoustic roots music. Bringing music from across the American landscape called they are called The Hot Strangs. The Hot Strangs can be seen and heard at Bootleggers Inn in Nashville, TN every Thursday evening.
